Dr. Matthew Meyer is a critical care anesthesiologist and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at UVA.

Commitment to Health Protection

Beyond his clinical and academic roles, he co-chairs the UVA Health and Sustainability Committee, a group dedicated to identifying sustainable practices and policies in the UVA health system. He also serves as treasurer of the Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action, which connects the clinical perspective to state-wide climate-related policymaking.

Dr. Meyer’s research focuses on perioperative efficiency, where he champions the belief that sustainable healthcare is synonymous with high-value healthcare. Advocating through impactful writing and speaking, Dr. Meyer is shaping a future where healthcare practices prioritize environmental safety alongside patient care.
