Biography

Dr. Samantha Ahdoot is a distinguished practicing pediatrician at Pediatric Associates of Alexandria in Virginia and an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Her dedication to pediatric health and environmental advocacy has earned her two terms on the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Council on Environmental Health

Commitment to Health Protection

Dr. Ahdoot’s influential leadership includes serving as lead author for the AAP’s Global Climate Change and Children’s Health Policy Statement and Technical Reports, featured in Pediatrics in November 2015 and March 2024. She contributed significantly to the AAP’s book, Pediatric Environmental Health, 4th Edition, with her comprehensive chapter on Climate Change, published in 2019. 


Notably, Dr. Ahdoot has performed a crucial role as the AAP representative on the Steering Committee of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health. She continues to profoundly impact the organization serving as the Environmental Champion on the Virginia AAP Chapter Board. Moreover, she is the Chair and Founder of Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action, a coalition that empowers medical professionals across Virginia with education and advocacy opportunities focused on climate and health issues.
