PEGASUS AIR is an EC145e helicopter that is twin engine, single pilot IFR rated, and equipped with color weather radar. Pegasus utilizes night vision goggles for all flights conducted at night. The program's primary operational area is within a 120 NM radius of Charlottesville, VA.  Pegasus shares a backup helicopter amongst several other medevac programs in the region, when the primary helicopter requires maintenance.

PEGASUS GROUND is an ambulance specially designed for critical care transport. Pegasus crew members spend half of their shifts staffing this vehicle. It is built on a 2016 Freightliner M2 crew-cab chassis. It was built by Braun Ambulances Inc. It is based at the University Hospital in Charlottesville and has responded to interfacility, on scene, and mass-casualty incidents in both Virginia and West Virginia.

The medical crew configuration consists of a registered nurse and a critical care paramedic. Medical crew members are trained in all aspects of emergency care and have the capability to transport all types of patients. All medical crew members maintain advance life support certifications in cardiac, trauma, and pediatric care. Other certifications in the use of specialty devices such as, intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices and ventilators are also maintained. If necessary, other crew configurations may be used when patient condition or mission requirements dictate.

All of our pilots are highly trained and undergo rigorous proficiency checks.  We maintain our own maintenance facility with two full-time mechanics and all aircraft are hangared.  All pilots, mechanics, and aviation services are provided to Pegasus through Metro Aviation.
