Specimen Collection:
SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS Preferred sample: 200 uL plasma from a light green top tube Alternate samples: 200 uL serum from a gold or red top tube EDTA plasma not acceptable Minimum collection volume - 2 mL whole blood
Shipping and Handling Instructions:
SPECIMEN PROCESSING
Centrifuge at room temperature
SPECIMEN STABILITY
Whole blood stability at room temperature is 1 hour Plasma or serum stability as follows: Stable at room temperature for 24 hours Stable if refrigerated for 3 days Stable if frozen for 30 days
TEST METHODOLOGY
Inorganic phosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate to form a heteropolyacid complex in the presence of a surfactant. The absorbance of the complex at 340 nm above that of sample blanks is directly proportional to the inorganic phosphorus level in the sample.
TESTING SCHEDULE
Performed as requested: 24 hours per day
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Moderate to grossly hemolysed samples will not be reported.
